Active or relaxing?  Why not both?

Our top tips for the summer

Road Biking:
Conquer cols made famous by the Tour De France.  The Col de la Madelaine is just down the road or you could try riding to Val Thorens like this years TDF will do on the last day of this year’s race.

Road Biking:
Let ex MTB pro Hugh build you an itinerary to suit your ability, fitness and riding style or alternatively take a trip to Meribel or Valmorel for some lift assisted descents.

Hiking:
We have amazing walking right from our front door.  Explore the high alpine meadows and eat at a traditional alpine refuge or let us organise a mountain guide who can show you the best of the area and reveal the local flora and fauna.

Other activities:
We can arrange numerous exciting activities for during your stay.  Locally you can go white water rafting, scale a local via ferratta or go stand up paddle boarding on a local lake.  For something more relaxing you could have a day trip to beautiful Annecy, “the Venice of the Alps”.

Nikki and Hugh are such a wonderful hosts and this is the second time we have held an event at the Chalet. From the hospitality, organization of 35 people and the food, well, the best there is to offer.

Alpine winter holidays done differently

Winter holidays in the French Alps immediately bring to mind skiing in big resorts like Meribel or Val d’Isere.  But if you choose to get out of those big, traditional alpine resorts you get a whole different experience.  Peace, tranquility, a range of activities and a totally different ambiance.  Winter holidays with Chalet Savoie Faire give you the best of both worlds,  access to world class ski resorts but in a relaxing setting away from the hustle and bustle.

Nordic Skiing heaven

While the Three Valleys and other famous resorts are just a short drive away, Chalet Savoie Faire has a different type of resort right on the doorstep.  There are 43km of world class, cross country ski trails in Naves, all runs are well marked and immaculately groomed.  Not for nothing do the Nordic ski trails around this beautiful area have a worldwide reputation amongst those in the know!

The cross country ski trails of Naves are situated on the sunny side of the Beaufortain and offer a mix of traditional and skating pistes over two plains.  There are pistes and trails available for all levels including beginners to this fast growing sport.

Our top tips for the winter

Skiing and Snowboarding:
While the more famous 3 Valleys are close by we love to ski in Valmorel.  165km of pistes, a high altitude skiing of up to 2800m & less crowds than bigger resorts, it’s a great place to explore.

Cross Country Skiing
Ask Nikki and Hugh to arrange ski and boot hire from the Maison de la Montagne in Naves.  The friendly, English speaking staff in the Maison can help you get going in this amazing sport.

Snow Shoeing
Escape the crowds at a more leisurely pace.  Explore for yourselves on the well marked trails or ask for a guide to explore less well trodden areas, following animal tracks and learning local legends.

Other activities:
A trip to the thermal spas in La Lechere is the ideal way to reinvigorate weary bodies after a long festive period.  For those seeking culture, a crisp day in Annecy makes a lovely trip for shopping and wandering.

I visited Chalet Savoie Faire in September 2018 for a cooking holiday with a group of friends. We had the best week – Nikki and Hugh (and Milo!) are perfect hosts. The chalet and the surrounding area are simply beautiful and we spent a lovely week cooking, shopping, visiting the spa, cocktails, more cooking…! A beautiful way to spend a week in wonderful company! Thank you for having us and hope to see you again soon!

YOUR HOSTS: NIKKI & HUGH

Expect a warm welcome from your hosts Nikki and Hugh, whose hands-on approach, boundless energy and creative culinary talents will ensure that guests feel well and truly pampered during their stay. Nikki left Australia over 30 years ago to travel the globe, finally settling in France and managing alpine properties for a large ski holiday company. Hugh is an ex-professional cyclist, who is often to be spotted whizzing up the local mountain roads when he doesn’t have his toolkit in his hand! Chalet Savoie Faire has been a true labour of love for the couple, who have poured heart and soul into making it a peaceful, authentic and relaxing place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of ‘the real world’!
